| Dear all, Hello, I mean NI HAO! I'm not sure if most of you know, but I will be leaving for Taiwan Saturday (July 2) afternoon. I will be there for the entire month of July teaching English to indigenous students at a middle school in Hualien county...which is basically in the mountains. The area is quite rural and will definitely be a culture shock for me (but something I will definitely learn a lot from). This is not exactly a mission trip, but I hope that regardless of that, I still have a mission. I actually do not know anyone on the trip except an old church friend, Goldie Young, however we won't be in the same group. Also, I do not know if any of the volunteers are Christians, but please pray that He uses me to witness to my fellow volunteers and to the children and teachers. But praise God that He has brought so many different students, from all over the world, that will be impacting the world with their lives, to Taiwan, and that I will have the chance to meet and be a witness to them. Also, pray that my testimony can transcend the language and cultural barriers. In addition, please pray for my health because I don't have the strongest of immune systems...but praise God that in my all weaknesses, He can be glorified. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Also, if you want to keep updated with my trip, give me tips/advice, etc., you can visit my blog at: http://jmewan.blogspot.com/ Leave a message on the chatterbox! ![]() I will try to update on a regular basis. Please keep me in your prayers and send 加油! ("Add oil!'s" - encouragements in Chinese) my way. Have a wonderful, unhumid summer, if you're not in Asia. ![]() Jaimie |
